HOOT HOOT...

This weeks TCR palette # 128 is a luscious array of warm orange and mustard tones. If your in North America its the perfect palette for Autumn projects but for me this palette screams summer with all those beautiful fiery hues so became the perfect inspiration for a page featuring the one thing (husband aside) that warms my heart... master, Tige.
I had a tonne of fun creating this page and used lots of digital brushes from my overly abundant cache.
Creating with brushes is a fabulous way to add texture, bold shapes and typography to your projects. So... if you looking for some cool free brushes I highly recommend DeviantART. They cover a wide variety of categories constantly updating their collections and all created by some of the leading and up and coming young designers the digi world offers.
You can also find some great brushes at Anna Aspnes Store over at Oscraps, but be warned you will need two carts after you see all her beautiful digi products and I can almost guarantee you'll fill them :)).
So here is my digi page with lots of misting, masking and layering.

HANGING WITH DADDA!

It seems like for ever since I have posted about a Color Room palette! I have been doing them but have been so busy with other stuff I havent had a chance to post on my blog or in the TCR gallery how bad is that. So here is a catch up post thought I had better share the current one with you first then a few of the past ones tee hee

Okay so here is my DT page for this weeks release #127 its called 'Hanging with Daddy' and I have used all my own digi papers, elements and stacks.
'Hanging with Dadda'

Here's palette #127 how cool is the addition of the Chevron.
Here is last weeks release #126 of Dan and I on our wedding day, we had such a fun day and a serious case of the uncontrolable giggles!

And this last one is of Tige and his grandma having cuddles, absolutely love these photo's of mum and Tige they are so cute!

Thanks for stopping by hope you have a fabbo weekend! xox

COVER YOU IN KISSES

Its Friday so we have a new palette at The Color Room. #117 is a vibrant mix of rich warm hues of pink and magenta with a twist of orange thrown into the mix, its a beautiful bright and happy palette to play with. Here is my DT page.

I used the Blazonry and Mini Gears TCW Templates on this page. I am loving mixing the templates up it adds a little different point of interest & seeing how the various designs play off each other is quite cool too. I also finally got my hands on some Ezy Carve (which I bought from Eckersleys) to create my own handcarved stamps. So started off doing a basic Chevron to stamp another bold contrasting pattern into the design like I didn't already need more pattern tee hee.

I also used some plumbers tape, hand coloured some yucky green foam thickers (which is always a buzz knowing I've managed to save a few buckaroo's not buying new Thickers) and used the fabulous Kaisercraft Texture Numbers stamp which is presently my fave stamp (from Mad About Scrappin), if you havent got it yet add it to your list you wont be disappointed ;)). Oh and lastly this little beauty of a font took pride of place.

which you can download here.

and here is #117 palette which was created for Inzpira Magazine.

So hope you'll give this fabbo palette a go and if you get a chance pop over to The Color Room and see what some of the new DT have created, their designs are sure to inspire.

Have awonderful weekend,
Em xo

BEAUTY & GRACE

This past few days I have not been well so have been a bit slack in the blogging department but I am on the mend and am doing a bit of a catch up.

If you have not heard already there is some exciting news over at TCR where we now have 5 new design team members all amazing artists so am really excited that Ayeeda, Christin Gronnslette, Geraldine Pasinati, Louise Nelson and Maiko Kosugi are joining us and recently Nic Howard and Czekoczyna became DT too. I would love to give you all the warmest welcome, can't wait to be inspired by your amazing talent ladies exciting times and am smiling widely xox.

Okay so here is this weeks palette and my page for The Color Room.

This is the final palette for this months sponsor Feature Art and its one I had a bit of fun with. I created the background by gessoing muslin and plastic doileys onto the cardstock, very simple way to add that little extra something to plain old cardstock. You may recall this paper in a couple of my digital pages, if not you can have a squizz here and here.

Oh and yep I did another page using the photo of my Grandmother and will probably do a few more as I only recently got this photo so its like I am reacquainting myself with her. The journaling is a bit hard to read so I'll transcribe it here for you.

'Grace was incredibly beautiful. She possessed the kind of beauty that was akin to a 1940's siren. I often imagine her as a Hollywood starlet rather than the Port Kembla girl that she was. Such a shame she went undiscovered in the steel works as she loved to sing and perform.

I never met my beautiful grandmother but her memory will be forever cherished.'

Thats not entirely true I did meet my maternal grandmother however sadly she was in the final stages of Alzheimer's and passed away not long after our reunion. Thankfully we have a huge extended family that shared many many photo's with us and of course stories about her and her life and this photo was the one that stood out for me, I just love her natural beauty.

Okay so thats it hope your having a fabbo weekend, I plan a day at home today still feeling a bit under the weather so think a few vids, some soup and a snuggle with my little bubba on the couch will be on the cards, thanks for stopping by xox

1950's FAMILY PHOTO...

OMG its Friday already I am losing days at the moment, I need for time to slow down just by two days then I can get on top of everything its madness here. Anyways with Friday comes a brand new Palette from TCR and this weeks #114 is a fabulous selection of brown and gold hues. I was so struck by Dells page this week [it was her layout that sold me on the palette as its not one I would normally go for], so I decided I best play along and use some more of the PP's supplied my this months sponsor Feature Arts

Here is my page using braided rice papers from Feature Art, some fabulous Tissue Napkins from my friend Kyla's FB page Left of Centre and a few cute embellishments like the Glass Mushroom and the Cherry Blossom from D-Lish Scraps all of which worked perfectly into the palette. I also created the background by simply inking the 12X12 Circle Grid by TCW and then roughly gessoing over the top. and then collaged some papers and finally machine stitched some crazy stitching.

Here is my digi version which I created after photographing the base of the trad page and rendering it on PS to create a digital paper, not sure which one I like best!
Okay so thats it for today no more blogging I promise, my gosh this is my third entry between the two I have lol...sorry 'bout that! ;) Have a great long weekend everyone and TFL.
P.S This is my 200th post so am very excited and not surprised I still have something to babble on about tee hee :)

ON CLOUD 9

This month some of the girls at The Color Room were given papers from Feature Art which is an Adelaide based business and this months sponsor at TCR. The DT kits included some gorgeous rice papers and the entire range called 'Historical China'. For me it was a difficult story to work with purely because my photo supply sadly lacks anything travel wise and even more so anything Asian that would fit (gosh I need to travel more).

HOWEVER...I saw the beautiful stylised cloud motifs and the gold braided rice papers and the brain got ticking, hows about revisiting those first family portraits the ones that had Dan and I feeling so lucky & so happy like we were on 'Cloud 9'. So there you go thats how this page below came about. I did a bit of stencilling and masking and of course a touch of machine stitching to connect the 3 components of the page. ( I also used a Page Draft template that is yet to be revealed so will update this post later )
and number 10.3 Page Draft from the #10 release.

Here's the colour palette #113 for reference. Why not pop on over to TCR and have a go at this beautiful palette and check out some of the stockists in your area for Feature Art papers.
Thanks for stopping by and have a fabbo weekend everyone:)

THE COLOR ROOM #111

Wow I am baaaad! I completely neglected to post about some of the recent palette's revealed at TCR, so this post is a bit of a catch up and hopefully I'll be back on track with them eek!

This weeks Palette #111 is the third one in a series of palette's showcased at Miss Art's Papercrafting School. The Sketch is inspired by Solange Marques and the colours are fabulous so I had a play this week and did a digi page of none other than Master Tige which you can see below!

Anyways if you are not familiar with the Round Table of TCR designers we were invited to collaborate with Miss Art's and share some of our scrapping tips, I think the classes are still available one of which 3 classes are mine so was very excited and honoured to be a part of that.

Here are the previous two palette's. Palette #110 by Janine Koczwara
and Palette #109 by me both our layouts inspired the sketches for our respective palette's.

BOOF HEAD!

Okay so this next layout for TCR palette #104 is a huge step away from my usual subject matter. But I guess I best get used to it now that I have two boys in the house. Thats not to say I dont enjoy a good footy game but I am still a Canberra Raiders supporter (insert whisper here) but hubby is a fan of the Titans so I should be too given we live on the G.C.

Here's our little boof head Tige dressed in his team colours and I thought it was a perfect fit for this weeks palette given its a dead ringer for The Titans and Queensland colours (Maroon and White), just too funny!
Here is this weeks palette #104, such a funky palette dont you think? The photo lends itself to lots of great patterns  like blk &wht checkers, big bold polka dots and bright colourful photo's. I can see a cool comic strip style page working beautifully with this one for a touch of retro goodness.
The palette was also featured in the latest issue of Inzpira Magazine which you can check out here.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend of family fun and scrapping.

A MOTHERS LOVE

This weeks palette at TCR is another soft palette of chalky pastel hues perfect for the sunroom. I created my page with a very clear idea that I wanted to play around with altering the photo in a different and unique way. So you got it, I tinkered in Photoshop and came up with this...
The idea was to reproduce the image by cropping it in several layers. I have done this before but not in a circle format and not with multiple coloured layers. I love how it worked out. Kinda refreshing to see photo's used and displayed in different ways from the usual formats of 6X4 etc, so I think I'll be exploring that approach more this year in my scrapbooking and have a few more fun ideas up my sleeve.

I also forgot to share last weeks palette and LO from TCR, its been mad busy here with lots and lots of DT work I have been like a women possessed and neglecting my blog. So here is a quick back date on my TCR DT page for week #102 again using the Pion Designs papers. And yeeeesh its of Tige again from Easter last year.
Thanks for stopping by hope you have a wonderful weekend. xox

DEERLICIOUS PALETTE!

This weeks palette at The Color Room is a beautiful selection of muted pastels, that have that old world feel about them.

My DT page is a giant leap away from my usual creations, probably because I am more inclined to use bold colours. But the photo of Miss Tegan all dressed up like a deer was a perfect fit for the palette (well I think so), anyways I decided I'd use it and try for a whimsical come vintagy page with lots of crazy stitching in a vain attempt at Helena Virpi's scrapping style, absolutely love her work...swooon!

This page was created using the stunning Swedish Paper range from
PION Designs which is this months sponsor over at TCR.
So your living in Australia and you want to get your hands on some of their gorgeous paper ranges pop over to Scrap Matrix for a spot of retail therapy.

Thanks for stopping by and a big happy crafting cheerio to you! xox

LETS CELEBRATE!

Can you believe palette 100 is up! Wow congratulations 'The Color Room', massive round of applause. Also to the team along with all you wonderful forum members you guys rock for supporting such a great place and sharing all your inspiring creations, every week I am stunned by the talent out there and am excited to be continuing on the journey with TCR DT. Anyways there is lots to share in this post so I best get on with it.

To celebrate this amazingly auspicious moment I have created a mini digital kit called 'Your So Purdy' and donated it to TCR for you to purchase.
The kit includes:
4 x Papers (2 embossed, 1 gessoed and a woograin fancy)
1 x Altered polaroid photo frame
2 x Stacked Buntings
1 x Paper doiley
1 x Pearl flourish
3 x Altered shipping tags
1 x Wordart
Forget-Me-Not flower
Dainty Bow
Autumn Leaf
Bowl of Cherries Sticker and more.
[All files are saved at 300dpi for optimum printing when creating your hybrid projects.
If your printer has a CMYK setting, use that for a true to colour result.]

All proceeds from the sale of 'Your So Purdy' goes back into TCR to help pay for the runnings of the ning site. So if it looks like something you could have a play with pop on over to the store and grab yourself the kit, there are a couple of other fabulous kits on offer too.

Here is a sample LO showcasing what you can do with the 'Your So Purdy' mini kit.
I also did a traditional page this week using the gorgeous paper range 'From my Heart 2' by the fabulous Swedish company Pion Design , they are such pretty, vintagy papers, but you know me I have to add some kind of contrast to off set that. So I used some cute miniture puzzle pieces from 'Stamp In Style' aren't they great.

They worked perfectly with the wordart I created as a freebie, just right click on it and you can grab it to use in your own projects :)
Okay so there you have it, the longest post in the world, sorry for that guys even I think I need to make myself a coffee now, tee hee...Have a great day and happy scrapping!

THE SISTERHOOD SITS AT THE COLOR ROOM ROUNDTABLE!

Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to be able to share with you a very cool new up and coming collection of classes created by The Color Room in collaboration with Miss Art's Papercrafting School. Myself along with Lydell Quin, Janine Koczwara and Solange Marques have created 12 videos showcasing some really cool tips and advanced scrapbooking techniques for you to enjoy and master.

Here is the promo tease...

Women are like pachyderms, we’re powerful, graceful, strong, and look fabulous in any shade of gray. We are also pack animals. Really, when was the last time you visited the loo alone? Our cell phone bills and sorority days are evidence that we thrive when giving and receiving advice from each other. In the Color Room Roundtable, the precocious paper crafters of the Color Room challenge blog will combine their scrapbooking super powers to teach you how to use texture paste, the merits of masking, how to stamp and distress with water, artless aging, the steps to creating tone on tone backgrounds and the ins and outs of hybrid layouts. In 12 easy-to-follow videos, Lydell Quin, Solange Marques, Emma Stafrace and Janine Koczwara take this 201 class from being singularly sensational to gloriously group minded. Miss Art’s Papercrafting School beings solidifying the scrapbooking sisterhood on 3/1/12.

Soooo if this looks like its something your interested in I recommend you scoot over to Miss Art's subscription page here and resgister for the March 1st release of this fun collaboration, and for extra credit you can access a huge selection of other classes on offer in the library when you subscribe.

11 more days to go!
Waving excitedly,
