This month I’m hosting the Photography challenge over at The Lilypad. It's a fun one where we are taking a set of sequence shots then framing them like a Photo Booth strip. Its one of my go-to ways in presenting multiple photos in my scrap pages and so easy peasy to do not to mention an effective way to share them!

LITTLE PINK BOW | BREAST CANCER RESEARCH FUNDRAISER

Hi everyone and welcome to the October Challenges. Did you know that October is BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH? That means its time to check your boobies either by visiting your GP or by doing a thorough self examination. Don’t put it off and keep up with it every month just to be sure.
This month I am hosting the Inspiration challenge over at The Lilypad. I would love to do something special this month and suggest a little nod to BCA and what better way is there to show our support than by including a Pink BowPink Ribbon/Ric Rac or a Strip/Band of Pink Paper to our pages.

If you wanted to take it a step further you could create a page that is predominately pink too so long as you have a bow or ribbon in it! How amazing would it be to see The Lilypad Gallery bursting in every hue of pink imaginable! Oh my heart would be full!

Here’s my page. I created a predominately pink page and added two pink ribbons, 1 bow and a strip of pink paper just to cover all the possible challenge criteria hehe

[IMG]‘BEAUTIFUL LIFE
For every page that is created showcasing a pink ribbon, bow or pink strip of paper, I will donate $1 AUD to the NATIONAL BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION here in Australia. This amazing organisation offered lots of support and information to me during my breast cancer fight. To make it even more incredible our lovely Laura McCandless has offered to match my donation by donating her portion to a foundation of her choice, we will keep you posted on which one, but how awesome is that! As a community we could raise a sizeable amount for this cause. So if you decide to join us make sure to share your page in the October Inspiration Challenge thread to be counted.
For all the challenge details scoot over to the Challenge Pad at TLP and join us for some Pretty in Pink fun!

I can't wait to see your pink ribbon pages everyone!

FOLIAGE FLAIR

Yay... Spring is here in Australia and that means Autumn is arriving soon in your part of the world!

I love the weather changes with each new season. Both are the promise of new adventures, experiences, fresh connections with our environment, not to mention new growth and plenty of beautiful colour to inspire us. Soooooo, I thought what is something from nature that bridges both Spring and Autumn...FOLIAGE does! All the changing colours of Autumn and the bright bursts of new lush greens that Spring brings. So lets create a page that uses FOLIAGE as the main element in our designs.

For all the challenge details and the link for the FOLIAGE FLAIR Pinterest Gallery scoot too The Lilypad challenge pad HERE and check out the September Inspiration Challenge thread.

STYLE CHALLENGE | ON THE EDGE WHITE SPACE

Hi everyone, welcome to the month of July. This month I’m hosting the STYLE CHALLENGE over at The Lilypad and I’ve noticed that lately I’m pinning lots of white space pages that have all the elements, photos and text aligned to the edge. JOURNALING CHALLENGE | LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE

Hi everyone, welcome to the month of June, we’re half way through the year already, GULP! And to celebrate I’m hosting my very first Journaling challenge! I thought it would be fun to use ‘LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE’ as our journaling prompt. So let’s share a story or experience that actually elevated you into a happy place. This doesn’t necessarily mean you were left in fits of laughter but instead something that made you feel happy, relieved or joyful.

You must pen a minimum of three (3) sentences below I have included some examples to help kick start your journaling but hey anything goes with this one!
1- Document something you saw, like Instant karma working at its best.
2- Those funny quips your kid comes out with on those seemingly mundane moments of day to day life.
3- Perhaps it was an unexpected interaction with someone you know or a stranger that brought you joy.
4- Maybe it was a special message/ heavenly gift from someone up above.
5- You could include an Inspirational Quote as part of your journaling and one that resonated or made you smile.

Here is my story and page dedicated to my wonderful Aunty and her little gift of joy sent from heaven.
'SPECIAL DELIVERY'

MY JOURNALING

It was the day of your funeral & your wake. Mum and I were feeling so overwhelmed with emotion we glanced across the room and instantly knew that each other needed to step out of the fray and regroup in the front garden even just for a quick moment. We were missing your dry sense of humour, the kind of wit that not everyone got but we did. It was one part of your amazingness!  We were postulating at what you’d make of all this fanfare being bestowed in the memory of you and like a gift from the heavens this happened...

Your neighbour from across the street of which you did not know too well, noticed us and in a friendly neighbourly way he announced…
‘You wouldn’t be caught dead inside, on such a beautiful day like today!’

OH.EM.GEE! (something you’d always say)… in unison mum and I looked at each other then up to the heavens above and knew straight away that you had a hand in this! The immense happiness we felt at that moment could never be quantified, you were still with us right there in your front garden being cheeky & just a little bit naughty too. Thank you Aunty Lol for the joy you brought us everyday & well beyond because even in Heaven you’re still making us laugh. All our love Helen & Em. xox

GO GREEN FOR MOTHER’S DAY | MAY INSPIRATION CHALLENGE AT THE LILYPAD

Hi everyone, welcome to the month of May! The May 2019 Inspiration challenge is inspired by this months birthstone the EMERALD.

The lushness of the colour green is so refreshing and symbolises so many things including the colour of life, renewal, nature and energy. It is also associated with meanings of growth, harmony and safety.

I just love this colour and thought why not make it this months inspirational hue and then I had a brain wave moment, what do all these symbolic meanings of the colour green remind me of? Yep you got it, my mum and being a mum! So lets step this challenge up and create a page dedicated to the theme of Mothers Day and make green the main colour palette of your design.

CHALLENGE CRITERIA:

  • Create a project that focuses on the theme Mothers Day and what that represents for you. You could scrap about your own mum or someone who has been like a mum for you. You could scrap about the highs and lows of being a mum or if you’re a mum to fur babies thats totally being a mum too! The skies the limit on this one.
  • You must use the colour Green as you primary colour palette. This can include as many shades, hues and tones of green that you like. So have fun with green!
  • Other colours can absolutely be included. However please make sure green remains the predominate colour.

Here is my page dedicated to my wonderful mum. My mum has been an amazing support for me all my life but more so these past few months since my diagnosis. She has totally stepped up and helped with running the house and looking after Tige when Dan has worked away from home and when I’ve been too unwell to do it myself. I can’t imagine how our little family would of coped without her tremendous love and support. Love my mum! HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
I used various shades of green and teal in my page with a touch of red and black as accents.

THE LILYPAD | FEBRUARY STYLE CHALLENGE

Wow how much fun was MOC this year? I can’t believe how everyone powered through the Jan challenges and now we’re all ready to be inspired by the February ones! This month I’m hosting the HEART IT |Style Challenge. Because Valentines falls in the month of February, I thought why not make a page that celebrates the people, pets, places and things in our life that get that ticker of ours fluttering. I can’t think of a better way to do that than by creating a page that has a huge big love filled HEART, smack bang in the centre of our page!

Here is my page and yep you guessed it, of course I scrapped Mr Dan. I’m so lucky to share my life with this kind and cute guy and needed a way to represent how much he makes my heart flutter, so I stacked a few dimensional paper hearts to show him exactly how much I luvs him!

(Note: Each heart represents an infinite number of hearts, so thats pretty big right? hehe)

TAG YOU’RE IT | DECEMBER RANDOM CHALLENGE AT THE LILYPAD

This month I am hosting the Random challenge over at The Lilypad which is a bit of a stash grab. I love challenges like these because you use product you may not have visited from your digi stash for a really long time. So have fun trawling through your TLP digital scrapbook product collection and find all those Labels, Tags and Tabs that are screaming out to be used. I would love to see heaps of them and when I say heaps I mean at the very least 5 should be used in your creation.

GETTING CREATIVE WITH TAGS, TABS AND LABELS:
  • Sandwich Tags and Tabs between papers so they peep out from the top.
  • Stack Tabs, Tags and Labels to create some fun clustered layers.
  • Use Tags, Tabs and Labels to Journal on, add dates or key words to.
  • Use multiple Labels to add lists to.
  • Use Tags in a Bunting.
  • Create a collaged gallery of Tabs, Tags and Labels.

For extra inspiration I have put together a TAG YOU'RE IT PINTEREST BOARD  that has tonnes of great ideas to inspire your pages. Also here is a quick link to the LABELS & TAGS CATEGORY  in the TLP Shop.

Below is what I came up with. A Christmas page of lil mister and his ’T’ light Christmas ornament.

LEVEL UP | NOVEMBER STYLE CHALLENGE

Hello Everyone, You probably didn’t notice but I was MIA last month in the challenges but I’m excited to be back with a new STYLE CHALLENGE which I have called LEVEL UP. This one is all about the fundamentals of a HORIZONTAL LINE in art. Lines applied horizontally accentuate width often evoking feelings of stability, grounding and add emphasis and direction that really help define the edges of a form. I love seeing structured pages that have little unexpected points of interest. So when you design your page, break it down to 3 main levels perhaps you’ll start with a PANORAMIC PHOTO or SERIES OF PHOTOS that span across the top of your page. Then create your TITLE which spans underneath the photo and finally adding a JOURNAL BLOCK that lays horizontal under your title work. Which ever order you choose make sure that your Horizontal spans are the same width or there about to create that structured balanced and levelled up look.

GETTING CREATIVE WITH THIS STYLE:

  • You can be as creative as you like with your journal blocks think in columns or perhaps mix it up with a JC and JOURNALING so long as it is all contained within its own Journal level/span.
  • You can use multiple photos so long as they all are on the one PHOTO level/span.
  • Your TITLE can be a series of words or elements that help convey your title or even add a clustered grouping for extra flair and a point of interest so long as all of that is on one level/span.

Here is my page. I kept it pretty structured but added some extra design elements to my last level the Title to really create some drama and point of interest. This also helped to balance all the stacked goodness in the cluster under the photos.

For extra inspiration I have put together a PINTEREST BOARD and below I pulled together a quick reference so you can see how creative you can get with this style by adding some unexpected design elements and flair.
