SOME MIXED MEDIA GOODNESS & MORE

I’m revisiting my love for Mixed Media style scrapbooking. Its been a longtime since I would have described myself as a Mixed Media junkie. I mean I used to love it with every fibre of my being when I was on the Sissy Sparrows team but its been so long since I have had a dalliance with it and thought it high time I got a hold of the reins again.

It has really been so exhilarating and fun to explore it again, so much so that I have been all inspired to start a new journal! OMG that Gelli plate has been getting a work out so stay tuned for some shares from that. But for now here are a few recent pages created using some of the awesome designers over at The Lilypad. Lynn Grieveson being one of my all time faves and with Rachel Jefferies formerly known as Captivated Vision now selling at TLP I am in scrappy heaven.

CUT OUT FANCIES | JULY RANDOM CHALLENGE

This month I am excited to be hosting the Random Challenge over at The Lilypad, which I am calling ‘CUT OUT FANCIES’. I thought it would be fun to start cutting out negative space in our pages to create some bold eye catching design tricks in our digital projects; just as paper scrappers do in theirs when they use svg.files.

As you know the svg.file has become a popular way to add cut outs of pattern, quotes, titles and niches in paper scrapping. No more laborious fussy cutting when you can use a cut file! But in digital scrapping its even easier to create that same look, and something we probably do often without realising it.

CHALLENGE CRITERIA:
So, this month, lets really make our CUT-OUTS sing and add some cut out negative space in our digital project. This technique is a fun way to enhance your page and create some extra special scrappy artworks.
  • You could use a word art, quote or type a title to use as a mask to create a negative space cut out from your background paper.
  • Maybe try a repeat pattern to cut out a bold background.
  • Use a shape as a mask to house a photo, flair button or any other element of your choice.
  • Then layer a solid or pattern paper underneath to create a peek’a’boo effect.
  • Whatever you choose, the combination is entirely up to you so long as you incorporate a minimum of 2 UNIQUE cut outs in your page.
In my page below, I have cut out some [Organic Shapes], to house some mixed media bits along with a [Title], I fashioned from a word art. I then added a [Block Border] and some ‘+’ signs scattered for added interest.
Digital Credits:

For extra inspiration I have put together a PINTEREST BOARD CLICK HERE. It’s filled with lots of great cut out design ideas and some TLP product I pulled from the shop that could be handy to use in your project. I also pinned some great tutorials found on the web outlining different ways to create a punched/ cut out shape in your page.

Remember our monthly challenge rules:
You must use atlas 75% Lilypad product in your pages. Also, The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month:

2 challenges = 10% off
4 challenges = 20% off
6 challenges = 30% off

If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).

Have fun scrapping up a storm!

LOVE YOU MORE EACH DAY

This weeks SOSN over at The Lilypad includes a gorgeous collection called ANSEL & ZOE |  Lynne-Marie Designs. Its such a cute collection with fun illustrations that I could have easily scrapped a tonne more pages but with the Commonwealth Games and school holidays its been pretty hectic around here. Keep on the look out for more pages using this collection in the very near future.
I’ve also been playing with some of Lynn Grievesons 50% off goodies this week including READ WITH MOTHER. The cute Beatrix Potter theme was perfect for a page about our recent movie date to see the Screen adaption of Peter Rabbit which was flippen awesome!
I've also been revisiting an old photo shoot of Tige which was perfectly paired with Lynn Grieveson's April Featured Kit MICHELINE which you can get at 40% off until the end of April. I loved these photos of him wearing his Dalmatian plushie hat so had to scrap them again!
This page is all about our new little cottage that will be going through a pretty grand transformation over the next 2 years. Its still in the design and saving money phase but we have put a few things in place to make the renovation a little easier. I’m a stickler for planning, so lets hope I've nutted the process out enough for all to go well....fingers crossed! The Kit I used for the page below is called SHARP EYED by Lynn Grieveson.
Thanks for stopping by.
Enjoy your week!

HANGING AT THE LILYPAD!

Warning long post, lots of pages to share ;)
Most months I try to play along with the challenges over at The Lilypad. This month I managed to complete them all which was a tonne of fun! These first two are the digital and hybrid versions of the same page. The Hybrid is slightly different because I combined that page with another challenge set by a new facebook group called 'Can I do that?'

Catie Kennedy the founder decided that we should try creating a page using a clean white cardstock as the base. The catch....no embellishing of the cardstock at all! So this proved to be a challenge for many of us he he. Its way too hard not to add something. Anyways I had a brain storm and figured that using Grafix rub-Onz wouldnt constitute embellishing the cardstock instead simply adding a 4th photo to my project! Brilliant? hmmmm I don't know 'bout that but hey love how it turned out.

Here is the digital version...

This week the fabulous Lynne-Marie Designs released the so very pretty collection 'Woodland'
Its a lovely vintage inspired kit with lots of fun elements like squirrels, deer and some baby inspired papers and to please peeps like myself there are plenty of wood textures which is also on trend at the mo.
Its a versatile kit one that doesn't need to be typecast as solely for baby inspired pages but I did choose to create two as guest creative team member using some cute pics from our family photoshoot with Rachael Wilson Photography a couple of years ago.

GUEST SPOT WITH LYNNE-MARIE DESIGNS!

I have been meaning to share with you guys my guest design spot with the fabulous designer Lynne-Marie Designs. I got a lovely email from Lynne asking if I'd like to hang with her and her team for a couple of months and play. Of course I couldn't say no to the chance at playing with all her fabulous digi wares. Then the penny dropped Lynne-Marie Designs was formerly known as Favreau Designs and I had a tonne of her product already in my stash...I was a hoarder of her wares who would of known and to top it off one of my all time fave digital kits is called 'IQ' which was a collaboration between Lynne and Sandra (the gorgeous founder of Studio 68 one of my permanent CT spots).
the symmetry going on here! :)

So its been 3 weeks already hanging with Lynne and the team and I have been playing with kits and creating pages all of which I haven't blogged about...schmack me!
But hey that is all about to change, so brace yourself for a scrappy overload tee hee...

Firstly I have to say I love Lynne's designs. They are tactile, earthy and a little art journal inspired. Her clever use of ornate motifs in her kits is for me her design signature and they all blow me away! Each and every kit is a sensitive look at the past with quite a retro feel which is another plus for me given I'm a little sentimental for days gone by ;) If you like what you see go and check out Lynne-Marie Designs shop over at the Lilypad there is sure to be something that grabs your fancy!

Below are a few pages I have done recently using her gorgeous kits.

Hope you like the pages and get a chance to scoot over to Lynne's shop for a look at her other great kits. Thanks for stopping by
