RON MUECK, PLAYING WITH CRATE PAPER & FASHION WEEK!

I am soooo excited to be going up to Brissy today! There is a fantastic Exhibition on at the Goma running until the 1st of August, showcasing the amazing sculptures of Ron Mueck. He is an Australian Hyperrealist sculptor based in London and does some incredibly detailed and life like sculptures of human figures suspended in contemplation. I have been aching to see this collection for a number of years and when I saw the advert on TV the other night I nearly fell off my perch that the exhibition was here! 

If you get a chance to see it please go you wont regret it and you can even take your cameras and click away in this one too, but for a little taste of what to expect here's some pics I found.

Here are some LO's I did last month using the 'Brook' PP range by Crate paper! I absolutely loved this range, but I guess I am a Crate paper freak.

This first one is of my sis-inlaw and nephew. I printed the halftone dot pattern directly onto the cardstock then added some dimensional magic to add more texture. One of my fave techniques at the mo is paper piercing , which I did on this one to emulate waves and sand dunes.

This second one I did of Manon (my fellow stylist over at Scrapboutique), when I visited her on one of my trips to Canberra last year. She had just got her kittens so I had to take lots of piccies. I thought it would be fun to make the flower heads similar shapes to the design on the PP and yeees again paper pierced a cat silhouette on the bottom left hand corner.

Then lastly this one is of my furry freak brother Mr Osky down at the beach.If you haven't already had a play with this range you should check it out Brook at Scrapboutique, Chels has the full range there.


Its also week 3 of the Postcard comp at SB and we are travelling to New York New York. What a fun and different week of inspiration to the previous 2 with the Star Spangled Banner being the main source of inspiration and my burning desire to go there...oh how I love the Big Apple!

...and my LO. I thought given its Fashion Week and that I work in Visual Marketing I would use a piccie of an in store display of the Ralph Lauren pad. I used some scrap sewing pattern tissue paper as my background and printed some PoloRL models onto transparency film. Sorry about the poor quality of the photo though ;)

Living on the GC and friends for Inspiration!

Monday is here, and I have been crazily trying to finish off all my layout's for the Boutique...Yipppeeee! 2 down 1 card to go....phew. Amanda, Manon and Liz-wah have created some awesome challenges for October and we are seeing some fabulous work in the gallery.

Here's my take on Manon's, Photo Inspiration Stylist Challenge...the photo was of brightly coloured flowers taken at the annual flower show 'Floriade', in Canberra. I chose to use the Crate paper-Rainbow, for its cute colours and used a lot of stenciling in this one, my renewed love for print making is slowly coming back. The stencils were made using a wonderful product called 'Make your Own Mask' by Tim Holtz which I am going to be buying heaps more of, lol

This next one is about living on the Gold Coast. The Challenge was set by Amanda called 'Around Town', a wee little tribute to Scenic Route shutting down production...here's my take. I did a lot of paper piercing in this one, craziness!
